The Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED) invites firm recruiters, Principals, and articling committee members to participate in an upcoming focus group on the Bar admission program calendar and the timing of the Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP) intakes.
PREP is currently offered three times a year, in two formats: Accelerated PREP (13 weeks, full time) takes place in the summer beginning at the end of May, and our regular program (9 months, part-time) has two intakes starting in June (summer intake) and December (winter intake).
To gather feedback on the program calendar, CPLED will be hosting two focus groups, on Thursday, October 20 and Wednesday, October 26, to get input from stakeholders on topics such as:
- Whether to introduce a second offering of Accelerated PREP,
- Best timing for a possible second Accelerated PREP, if offered,
- Timing of the current Accelerated intake, and
- Demand for the Winter intake of the regular PREP.
We are eager to have stakeholder participation in one of these groups; CPLED management will consider the input provided as it contemplates future changes to the program calendar and how best to serve students and stakeholders.
The focus groups will be in an online, asynchronous, text-based format hosted at focusgroupit.com. The group will be open all day on the day of your selected focus group. Participants can access the group at any time throughout the day and can enter and exit as often as they like. The asynchronous format is perfect for busy people as they can schedule their focus group participation around other work and activities. Feedback from past participants has been overwhelmingly positive.
No downloads are required; everything is completed through a browser on the focus group platform, and participants can access the group from a PC, tablet, or smartphone.
If you would like to participate, please complete an expression of interest form by Wednesday, October 12, and indicate your preferred group. Participants will be sent an access link and log-in instructions the day before their selected group.
