The Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED) organization has grown and welcomes two new members to the Education team. The Education team creates and delivers various content for CPLED programs and courses. Their work includes the Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP) and the Legal Research and Writing (LRW) course. The Education team consists of three lawyers who work together to develop and review new educational content while ensuring it stays relevant to changes in the law.
“I would like to take this opportunity to recognize Erica Green, who has been with us throughout the development of PREP and to welcome two additions to the team, Jill Crockett and Brenna Meade-Clift. With the Education team we have in place, I am excited for the enhancements they will construct for CPLED programs,” says Dr. Kara Mitchelmore, CEO of CPLED.
Erica Green is the Acting Education Manager. She oversees all educational development and activities for PREP and the LRW course. Erica holds a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University and was called to the Bar in Nova Scotia in 1997. She worked in private practice for 15 years focusing on Family Law, Real Estate, Wills and Estates before joining the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society working in their Education and Credentials Department.
While at the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, Erica supported articling students through their Bar admission process, including facilitating the Nova Scotia Bar admission course. She contributed to the creation of PREP from the early stages and worked in all roles and areas of its development before becoming the Acting Education Manager in 2020.
Jill Crockett joined CPLED as Education Counsel in 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria. Jill has practiced law since 2007 and has had extensive legal experience in private practice and as in-house legal counsel. Most recently, her practice focused on Family Law, working as Legal Counsel and as a Mediator. She also has experience in Employment Law, Criminal/Regulatory Law and Health Law.
