While enrolled in the Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP) and until final results are released, students can access CPLED Student Services to assist in their articling search.
Pressures on students to secure articling begin early, whether they are attending a Canadian common law university or studying for their NCA exams, the push to secure the all-important articling role can put a lot of stress on students. Adding to the regular stressors of keeping up with studies while searching and applying for articling a global pandemic that has limited or completely removed traditional networking opportunities, and anyone would be stressed.
The CPLED Student Services department is available to work with PREP students one-on-one or in a group setting to offer support as they prepare to apply for articling positions as well as helping to prepare for an interview. “As students can register and complete PREP without secured articles we want to offer them as much support as we can so that they may continue on their journey of becoming a lawyer in Canada. Learning the necessary competencies and practicing lawyer skills within PREP will allow students to be more marketable during their articling search and better prepared for work once at their firm,” says, Dr. Kara Mitchelmore, CEO of CPLED.
