Did you know CPLED supports law students in finding articling and summer positions? And this also means helping firms find articling and summer students.
Through the Student Services department, CPLED helps law students search for summer and articling jobs that will support them in their quest to be called to the Bar in Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia or Saskatchewan.
CPLED offers the following services to students:
1. Pre-Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP)
Law students can create a profile on the CPLED Student Resume Directory and upload a resume for viewing by legal employers and recruiters. The directory contains resumes for a variety of students:
2. PREP Candidates
Candidates who have already begun (or completed) PREP can use the Resume Directory to promote their availability to employers.
In addition to the resume directory, CPLED provides articling search support to PREP students through Student Services, including resume and cover letter reviews, coaching on job searches and networking, and interview preparation.
How CPLED can help legal employers
Law firms and other legal employers looking for summer or articling students can browse the resumes in the Resume Directory and reach out directly through the directory portal to discuss employment opportunities. There is no cost and no need to post a position, wait for applications, and screen a deluge of resumes and cover letters.
Firms and employers can also reach out to Student Services by email, with or without a job posting, and the Student Services Advisor will pass on job and contact details to candidate clients. Again, there is no cost to reaching eager and qualified candidates for articling positions.
If you have questions about hiring an articling student or any of the services described here, please email student.services@cpled.ca.
