The Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (“CPLED”) is currently recruiting a new Board member to join our team. Individuals interested in, and that have experience with, the regulation of a profession are encouraged to apply. The time commitment varies as the Board meets quarterly or as required, plus time for advanced preparation. Our eight (8) person volunteer Board of Directors is the guiding mind of this non-profit organization that currently provides services in Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan. CPLED helps people become competent lawyers. We do that by developing and delivering innovative and experiential Canadian pre-call legal education programs, services, and support.

Our current Board consists entirely of lawyers – we’re looking to change that by adding someone who:

• Is familiar with the regulation of a profession
• Is interested in, and has experience with, how professions form the habits and competencies of those joining the profession
• Understands the concepts of diversity and equity and how those come to play in the education and training of entry-level professionals
• Has a reasonable level of financial expertise that would assist us in vetting and monitoring financial plans and performance
• Has experience on a high functioning, non-profit Board of a results-focused dynamic organization and a general understanding of best practices in Board governance
