PREP Application for Program Completion Extension

Students submitting this application should ensure they have read and understood CPLED’s policies.

This form should be used by students who are unable to complete PREP within the mandated two-year period and require permission for an extension for completion of the program. Submission of this form does not guarantee that the request will be approved.  Program completion extension requests may be granted at the sole discretion of CPLED.

An extension of your program completion deadline by CPLED does not equate to an extension for any of your Bar Admission requirements as set by your law society.  If your program completion extension request is approved, it is very important that you confirm and abide by any deadlines for completion of your Bar Admission requirements as set by your law society.

Find your ID Number in the Student Portal under “MENU”.
Specify the first intake in which you applied to register (i.e., PREP 2023-24 intake). This is your first intake of registration, regardless of whether you participated or withdrew from this intake.
Phases completed(Required)
Select all that apply. Partial completion is not considered.
State the length of the extension you are seeking (i.e., one year).
Review the program schedule of upcoming PREP intakes and indicate which intake you intend to join if your application is approved. This is for our information only and is not a guarantee of registration in your requested intake.
Provide an explanation and/or supporting documentation which speaks to the reason(s) why you were unable to complete the program by the two-year completion deadline. If additional space is required, attach extra pages.

Have you contacted your law society to ensure you can meet their Bar admission deadlines?(Required)
If approved, extension of your program completion deadline by CPLED does not equate to an extension for any Bar admission requirements set by your law society. You are responsible for determining and abiding by any deadlines for completion set by your law society.
