Registration Process

To register for the Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP), you must complete the PREP registration process through the CPLED Student Portal.

PREP Student Registration Guide

Please follow the step-by-step PREP Student Registration Guide to help you:

  • Set up your CPLED Student Profile in the Student Portal
  • Complete each required item in the Enrolment Checklist, including law degree information, previous legal experience, articling information, personal contact details, PREP Student Agreement
  • Register for a PREP intake once registration opens
  • Pay the required tuition fee

We strongly recommend referring to the registration guide as you move through the process.

Important Note for Articling or Clerking Candidates

If you are articling, you will need to input your start date, the name and location of your firm, and the name and contact information of your Principal, including other firm contacts where possible.

If you have secured articles or a clerkship, you must also register as a student member with your law society. This requirement is separate from CPLED registration.

If you have yet to secure articles, you are not required to complete this portion of the checklist.

If you are registering in a PREP jurisdictional cohort outside of where you are articling, such as registering into an Alberta cohort but residing/articling in Nova Scotia, or if you have yet to secure articles:

  • You are responsible for accounting for any time zone differences while enrolled in PREP.
  • You are responsible for ensuring you rely on the law of the jurisdiction in which you register, i.e. when registering into a Manitoba cohort, you will be relying upon Manitoba law throughout PREP. Once enrolled, there is further information on this in the D2L FAQs.

Finalize Your Registration

Once your Enrolment Checklist is complete and you have made your tuition fee payment you will receive login credentials for D2L (CPLED’s content delivery platform) and LexisNexis QuickLaw (CPLED’s provided legal research platform). Please note that it can take up to seven business days to process your payment.

You will not receive access to the program until your tuition fee payment has been processed.
