How to Register for Canadian Legal Research and Writing (CLRW)

We strongly recommend following the CLRW Student User Guide to complete your registration successfully. Failure to complete your Enrolment Checklist in the Student Portal may delay your registration confirmation or prevent you from registering for your preferred intake.

Step 1: Create Your Profile and Upload Required NCA Documents

If you do not yet have your NCA Assessment Report:

  • If you have started the NCA application process, upload your NCA Application instead.
  • If you have not started the NCA process, you must email admin@cpled.ca before proceeding.
  • Note: Students with a completed NCA Assessment Report receive priority registration. Admission for students without a completed NCA Report, or who are still in the NCA application process, is subject to available course capacity. Waitlists are created if an intake reaches full capacity. CPLED will contact you if you are placed on a waitlist.

Important: Your NCA Assessment status will remain unchecked until you register for an active CLRW intake. CPLED staff will manually review and confirm your documents.

Step 2: Complete the CLRW Academic Integrity Student Agreement

  • Complete the CLRW Student Agreement form (Enrolment Checklist Step 2 – Academic Integrity). You are encouraged to complete this step before registration opens.

Important: If your Agreement was not submitted properly, you will see the status set as “In Progress.” You must click SUBMIT for your Student Agreement to be completed.

Step 3: Register When Registration Opens for Your Preferred Intake

  • Register as soon as your preferred intake’s registration opens (Enrolment Checklist Step 3 – Registration).
  • Remit your course payment to secure your spot (Enrolment Checklist Step 4 – Fees Paid).
  • Email proof of payment to payments@cpled.ca

Important: Payment instructions are listed on pages 1–2 of your invoice, which is available in the CPLED Student Portal.

Step 4: CPLED Review and Payment Processing

  • CPLED staff will review your submission.
  • Enrolment Checklist Step 1 will be marked complete after your NCA Report has been reviewed.
  • Enrolment Checklist Step 4 will be marked complete once your payment is processed (this may take 3–7 business days).

Step 5: Receive Confirmation and Course Access

  • Once all Enrolment Checklist steps are complete and payment is confirmed, you will receive a registration confirmation email.
  • LexisNexis and D2L login details will be sent one week before the course start date.

Important: Access to course materials will only be granted after your Academic Integrity Student Agreement has been submitted and your payment has been processed.
