CPLED is dedicated to helping students hone their practical skills and assesses how well they are able to apply their legal knowledge and skills in everyday situations.
This helps ensure new lawyers are well-equipped to meet the demands of the workplace.
We Equip Students to Practise Law
Completing the CPLED Program ensures that new lawyers’ skills and knowledge are real-world ready once they begin practising law.
Students are evaluated for their competency and knowledge in many areas including:
- Arguing a motion
- Interviewing a client
- Negotiating a dispute
- Writing opinion letters
- Preparing research memos
- Drafting pleadings and commercial documents
When students are deemed competent in these areas, you can have confidence that those entering the legal profession as new lawyers are ready to perform and successfully contribute to your team.
The CPLED Program offers nine separate modules — three face-to-face and six online — to help build on and improve students’ practical skills.
In 2020, a new version of the CPLED Program will be launched to be more interactive, engaging and reflective of the changing needs of the legal marketplace. Learn more about what’s coming.
