Module Descriptions
Legal Research
The Legal Research module walks students through the steps of legal research while introducing research tools they will use when submitting course assignments. The assessment of research in the LRW course is concentrated not only on finding the correct law but also on the process and reasons behind choosing specific resources.
Legal Writing
The Legal Writing module focuses on four forms of legal writing – opinion letters, advocacy letters, legal memorandums, and legal briefs. The structure and content of each of these forms of legal communication will be reviewed, and examples provided. Exercises will allow students to begin to apply what they have learned and gain an understanding of the core competencies required for legal writing in the Canadian system.
