The total program cost for the Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP) is $6,100 plus applicable taxes. You may not know that this cost is partially subsidized by CPLED’s participating law societies for candidates registered as student members.
Below is the PREP cost structure for candidates who are registered as members of their law society. Note candidates with confirmed memberships with one of CPLED’s participating law societies (Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia & Saskatchewan) are eligible for a tuition fee subsidy. However, subsidy amounts are applied to a candidate’s tuition fee invoice(s) once CPLED receives confirmation from the law society of the candidate’s eligibility for the subsidy. CPLED will be notified of confirmed members after each phase of the program has begun. Candidates will not obtain access to program materials for a phase until their tuition fee payment has been processed.
Please ensure your Articling Information within the student portal is up to date, as this information is used for verifying subsidy eligibility.
If a candidate has paid their tuition fee in full or the amount they owe is less than the subsidy amount, CPLED will issue a refund for the subsidy amount. However, suppose a candidate has received their final PREP result after being confirmed as a member of a CPLED participating law society. In that case, the candidate will contact their respective law society to inquire about their eligibility for a subsidy.

Not yet a student member of your law society
Candidates who are not yet members of a CPLED participating law society may register and enroll in PREP. However, please note that you will be responsible for paying the full PREP tuition fee to CPLED. Candidates who become members of their law society while enrolled in PREP must notify admin@cpled.ca to update their information in the CPLED Student Portal and to have their law society subsidy apply to the remainder of their tuition fee.
